Why do I feel far from God?
This is not just a question about distance.
It is a question that rises…
When something that once felt near
Feels out of reach.
There was a sense of closeness.
Not constant…
But real enough to trust.
And now…
Something feels farther away.
Not gone.
But not as near as it once felt.
What once felt natural…
Now feels distant.
And the question forms:
Why does it feel this way?
Did something change?
Did I move?
Did something quietly shift along the way?
We often assume distance means separation.
That something has come between us.
So we try to close the gap.
Reach further.
Try harder to return.
But the distance does not always respond that way.
Because what we are feeling…
Is not always separation.
Sometimes…
It is something quieter.
Where what once felt immediate
Becomes less visible.
Less felt.
Less certain.
But not gone.
And in that space…
The closeness we knew
Feels harder to recognize.
Not because it has disappeared.
But because it is no longer familiar in the same way.
The question begins to shift.
Not only:
Why do I feel far from God?
But:
Is He still near…
Even when I do not feel it?
Because there are moments…
Where nothing feels close.
Nothing feels responsive.
Nothing feels clear.
And still…
Something remains.
Not loud.
Not obvious.
Not immediate.
But present.
And slowly…
Something begins to change.
Not that the feeling returns right away…
But that what we call distance…
May not be what it seems.
That what feels far…
May not be absence.
And that even here…
We are not outside of Him.
Not forgotten.
Not beyond His presence.
Not beyond what can be restored.
And something in us softens…
Not because everything feels near again…
But because what is real
May still be closer
Than we can feel.
